Core value highlight: Healthy people. Healthy business.

Yes, we did it. We added a fifth core value this year. Somehow it just seemed so right. And it underpins and acts as a foundation to other core values we hold dear. How can you be Excellent or Give Back unless you are a Healthy Person?

Let’s step back and explain what this core value means to us. Or what it means if we don’t have it.

To us, Healthy People means:

  • To have right prioritization in our lives – faith, family, friends, work

  • To take time off so that we have more of that right prioritization

  • To be well-rested

  • To eat foods that fuel our body

  • To move our bodies

  • To have perspective. How often do you hear about people that have a tragic event in their lives and suddenly the “first world problems” don’t matter anymore? Perspective gives the right weight to issues and decisions and actions.

  • To have a positive attitude

  • To be kind and merciful, to treat others as we would like to be treated – this gives to others while at the same time giving us peace

  • Not to strive for things – to have faith that those things that should be, will be

When we have the attributes of Healthy People then we believe we, as those healthy individuals, can work better, smarter and with more excellence on behalf of our clients. And, being a healthy person helps us to have the resiliency to bounce back when things don’t go exactly as we had hoped. When we come together as a team of Healthy People then we believe that gives us greater promise to have a Healthy Business. Absent Healthy People, we believe it would be nearly impossible to have Healthy Business.

To us, a Healthy Business is:

  • Working with Integrity – doing the right thing even when no one is looking

  • Continuing to improve our products and services to better serve our clients

  • Assuming positive intent

  • Having emotional intelligence, working as professionals, communicating with transparency

  • Managing our P&L by making smart decisions that better our employees, clients and community

  • Working hard but more importantly working smart

So, this core value is fundamental and precious to our team at KimbleCo. And, we’re not the only ones that think this. Earlier this month we read a great article in the Star Tribune (a Mayo Clinic highlight) about the importance of Healthy Workers, Healthy Business. What perfect timing.

Our eyes will be on it this first year of adoption and we hope it helps to remind us and guide us to live and work in a manner that will produce—Healthy People. Healthy Business!
